Miss Fury (Shadowrun: Detroit)

Main Page | Background | Descriptions

The third try was the charm on SR Detroit, it seems. I finally came up with a concept that didn't require staff babysitting to maintain and allowed me to just go out and play exuberance and attitude and had a very defined goal. Worked out great until I was made a staff member and scaled back on how much time I could spend on her.

Alas, she went through something of an identity crisis on this page. She started off with the image of Anna Kournikova, but I felt guilty about using it because I had used her previously for Lady M, Miss Fury's mother. After some time, I went looking for another image for her and found both Amy Taylor and Ocean Bloom, but I couldn't decide on either. I went back to Anna Kournikova because she looked athletic and young enough to fit. I still wasn't too satisfied, though, so when I found Bobbi Billard, I switched to her. Like the indecisive Pisces that I am, Fury's image turned schizophrenic again with the addition of Stacy Keibler, then Kim Lyons.

Ultimately, I realised that any time I think of Fury, regardless of what face I stuck on this page, I still had Anna Kournikova's face in my mind's eye. So, it's back to the "most popular female athlete," who has never won a major singles title.

On the shorter side of the Elven range, she is still a bit taller than the average Human. Unlike many of her kind, though, her physique has the bulk that results from a hard athletic lifestyle. Somewhat softer than the usual angular facial features, her teenage features are tinged with a mildly exotic colour and a mixed regional heritage. Mahogany-hued eyes are framed by dark lashes, betraying a little of childhood innocence but dominated by the realities of life on the streets. The exact length of her hair is difficult to gauge, but by the length of the thick braid that hangs behind her head, it might very well reach the small or her back. Undeniably silky, the long filaments reflect the rich hue of a fine Irish ale.

Rising up from a pair of thigh-high boots, slashed with the Detroit Nightmares' colour scheme, gel-padding and densiplast cover her shins, knees, and other vital organs and joints. The light protection is built into a navy and slate jumpsuit that moulds to the contours of the young athlete's body in paneling consistent with her team affiliation. The material is an Awakened Age synthetic that wicks away moisture and breathes or insulates when appropriate. The suit is liberally decorated with pockets, small ones and big ones, suitable for any manner of light gear.

Dark and dangerous in appearance, a long dark coat hangs over her shoulders, to touch her legs about mid-calf. Split slightly up the back for movement, it is often worn open and has a tendency to catch the wind.

So you wanna be a Brawler...

Miss Fury's Back

Bullets hit the pavement all around her feet as she raced through the narrow alleyways. The block was deserted save for predator and prey and today, it would seem that there would be no rest until one or the other met some ill fate.

She jinked left and right, avoiding the tracers of and more lethal pellets of lead spitting from the fully automatic rifle at the mouth of the alley. She was light, though, and faster than the predator might anticipate. With sticky shoes flying underneath her to carry her out of harm's way, she runs up the side of a building, momentum carrying her upward.

She comes down with a crash, rolling through crates as they are shattered by gunfire. The package was tucked protectively under an arm and as she rolled upright on the opposite side of the alley, her hand slips under her arm and withdraws a sleek black pistol, compact and elegant in design. One. Two. A double shot of Running Death streaks from her barrel to strike the hulking figure blocking her way out of the alley.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall, and the man's lumbering bulk creates a small tremor in the local vicinity as he is knocked back with blood spurting from a nasty, though non-fatal, injury. She resumed her pace and rocketed out of the alleyway, leaping out into the street.

Clear on both sides, she split left and sprinted to the next block, skidding to a halt inside the Neolux circle for her victory dance.

The flares of flash bulbs fired off all around her. The hum of activity was incredible. Gorgeous men in tuxes, beautiful ladies in fine dresses. She was decked out to the nines, too, in a silky designer dress that barely felt like it was there and probably barely covered everything it was supposed to.

The crowd kept moving along the red carpet, entering the grand ballroom at the Radio City Music Hall, where this year's Academy Awards were to be handed out. She looked wonderful next to her date, up for Best Actor in a Simulated Sensual Experience, though she draws just as much glory and attention for her incredible last-second sprint through the Brawl Zone to bring the Super Brawl title to the Detroit Nightmares over their arch-rivals, the Ares Predators.

She basked in the glow of the admiration heaped upon her, just as she fawned over the actors and actresses and nearly died when she finally got to meet Porsche Schiffer in person.

Miss Fury in a Red Tank Top

The show was long, as it usually is, with plenty of moving speeches and quite a few shallow ones. It was a night of pure gilt and glitter, but it was the parties afterward that truly etched the night in her mind. She was a celebrity, like everyone else. She stood head and shoulders above the regular masses, admired for her heroism, her beauty, and her charm. The night was filled with flitting from cloud to cloud, each one labeled "Nine."

Sharp cracks of gunfire rang out, louder than anything else that she had heard before, startling her upright on her worn mattress. Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, she rolls off the futon and finds her shredded jeans and a mostly clean shirt. The gunfire rattled again, nearer, and there was the screaming and yelling of a domestic dispute down the hall. A rapid burst of bullets rips through her door and strikes the wall just inches from her head, pushing her back onto her ass on the bedding.

And so, another day begins in the Blight...
